I conducted a training on last week for shift supervisors for an adolescent treatment facility. I showed this video to the team and asked the question, "Why was it important for me to show you this?" The first thing all said was "to make us cry" but it was what followed that was powerful. One of the supervisors stated the video was "an important lesson for supervisors not to react so quickly with the conclusion to fire a direct report when a situation is contrary". The team left the class experience empowered to show more patience towards others and shifting solution of an action plan of support and training before giving up. Thanks for assisting in getting this point across. This was beautiful.

I just started working in a school setting last school year and I’ve been told multiple times that I shouldn’t grow too close to students and I should protect my mental health (mostly from outsiders but even from some within the building). Talking to students is my favorite part of my job and I’ve found that so many just want to be heard, and need someone to vent to. It’s heartbreaking but I wouldn’t trade those conversations for “a little peace”. I will continue to strive to be a Mr.Jensen!❤

I would love to drum with you as a Paraeducator and a percussionist myself. I saw your Be Mr. Jenson video at an orientation for Paraeducators in the Anoka-Hennepin district. When I was in elementary school, I was very much like you tapping and drumming all the time in class (that was in the mid to late 80s into the 90s). I took up band in 6th grade and never knew where where it would lead me to. It got me into high school winter indoor drumline from 92 to when I graduated in 98. In 1997, I had a friend who told me that I had a gift. He got me to audition for the (Bassline) for the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps from LaCrosse Wisconsin and toured with the Corps. After that one year, I graduated high school and then served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After my full-time mission, I auditioned for Minnesota Brass on their Bassline and marched with them for a season. For me, my friend Thomas Burton Reimer was my Mr. Jensen and in grade school, it was my 6th grade teacher who found that in me. So, your story really hits home. Now, as a dad, I have 2 sons who love drumming, and one has Autism and he also loves Teakwando. My oldest son wants to someday march as well. As a Paraeducator, I'm going to use your story as I can find ways to be a Mr. Jenson to my kids that I work with as well as for my sons. Thank you so much for sharing that story. And from one drummer to another, we should do a marching snare duet or battle if you ever come to the twin cities (Coon Rapids Minnesota). I cried watching your video and other videos. You inspire me.

Why does the student act this way? Mabye he suffers form adhd and can't help it to stay calm and focused Does he seem to be demotivated to learn or not engaged enough? Yes he thought that his education ended when the asked him to stay after school by saying " I am done" and that their is no hope he can get better , because he tried once and failed How would you deal with this student? I will try to contact his parents and ask them to do an adhd assessment. Then, I would use suitable ways to deal with an adhd student Or I might ask his parents to enroll him into any kind of activities outside the school so he can release all the energy he has Other option is giving him something in his hands like a stress ball or a spinner How would you evaluate the teacher’s attitude to Clint Pulver? The teacher was very brilliant as he saw the good in his student not like others who viewed his actions as a misbehaviour How do you expect the teacher’s attitude impact Clint Pulver’s engagement and motivation in classes? It brought the good out of him and changed his life completely He was super motivated and showed the best out of him

I think that he wasn’t trying to annoy anyone. Maybe he was a kinesthetic type of a learner who adores learning through motion. He also mentioned that he was paying attention while tapping. It happens a lot with me and I completely understand that my students can’t help doing that. I try to keep them occupied with something like helping me with the slides, giving away worksheets and so on. His initial teachers did not really understand his situation, so I believe that they were a little bit tough on him. His initial teachers’ attitude of course demolished his engagement and participation as they made him feel abnormal. I think at some point he hated going to school because of their comments.

I think his that kind of students who seem to be more kinesthetic, not visual that make him not engaged enough, and that doesn't mean he is dumb or something. The teacher inspired him by the idea of the drumstick, that was brilliant and supportive, and that will boost his self-esteem and will make him believe that he is not a problem, he is just need help and a proper learning style that suit his intelligence The teacher was so inspiring to the student, and that was really a huge motivation to him. The teacher succeeded in focusing on the bright side of the story, which led clint towards success in life

I have been working in the teaching field for 11 years and I want to be like Mr. Jensen to my students by observing them to know what is special about them and use it as constructive feedback to provide them with to motivate them to be more engaged in the classroom.

Amazing!!! Found it very useful for me as a teacher, the idea of how one person can change your entire life and how our role as a teachers is very important, it’s not just about information it’s something much much bigger.

Thank you for doing this! Been watching hill for a while now and this helicopter is the dream. Been my dream to fly rotary since I was a kid. But unfortunately no schools anywhere near where I live. But I hold on to that dream!! Absolutely beautiful aircraft!!
